Nature is…

…wild, unpredictable, and dangerous.

It is home to the entire animal kingdom, including humans. Within it are cycles. Inconspicuous to us, these cycles reveal much more about art than we realize.

Philosopher Richard Wollheim defines art as "one of the most elusive of the traditional problems of human culture.” Author Leo Tolstoy identified art as a means to communicate between people. Though multiple interpretations exist, a commonality exists in art as something that evokes an empathetic and emotional response.

Photosynthesis feeds the grass…

which then feeds small herbivores…

which then feed predators and apex predators.

The cycle is vicious and never-ending. In this way, art is cyclical and webbed. Emotional responses: of power, of inevitability, awe, and other human truths are evoked. Though the cycle of life could go on without humans…

We are impacted, emotional, nonetheless.

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.”
