Bag Trinkets:
The Back Windshields of School Hallways
Jordan Yackira
On this page, I talk about how Northview students express themselves through bag trinkets using a little commentary from me and interviews of others. This was a fun project to put together, and I hope that by the end you’ll understand why I believe that this is among the most accessible forms of expression!

Inspiration & Purpose
As someone who adores thorough interests in hobbies, games, shows, academics, and other things, I love to see how people express their interests in public! One of my favorite mediums for expression is getting to know somebody by what is on their person. For example, maybe some people you've seen carry fidget toys, small plushies, keychains, etc. Simple things like that can help develop great connections between people — even quietly! But not everyone physically holds out their interests out to be seen by others. That doesn't come off as naturally (most of the time).
A school like ours, however, allows us to carry bags around, and we can represent ourselves and things we like using bag trinkets!

Student Interviews
I asked around for looks at people's bag trinkets in Northview. Below are some students that were willing to be interviewed as well! All were asked for where their trinkets came from, as well as the significance that they held.

Where did you get your trinket?
The moon was one part of an old Victoria Secret keychain that had a couple of other things on it, including a logo and a mirror.
Does it have any significance to you?
I like the color scheme on it. I don’t like the way Victoria Secret is now; they used to have more fun collections.

Where did you get your trinkets?
I got the Sua keychain from Taobao, and the Skullpanda Moldy Muffin keychain from Popmart.
Do they have any significance to you?
I love Sua as a character from Alien Stage, and I just like the design of the other one.

Where did you get your trinket?
One of my friends gave it to me.
Does it have any significance to you?
It reminds me of a specific memory from freshman year. My friend gave me it because she had an extra for herself.
