wake up, makeup!
Makeup is a creative outlet and a way to express personality, emotion, and confidence. With just a few colors and brushes, people can tell a story or show how they feel. Whether it is something soft and simple or bold and experimental, makeup gives everyone a chance to be creative in their own way.
Color and Expression
The color guard team’s rainbow eye look is a perfect example of creative self-expression. Instead of choosing one color, the team used the rainbow to create a bright, striking design. Each eye was painted in smooth transitions of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Creativity and individuality can shine through teamwork, turning a performance into something more expressive and memorable.

Halloween Makeup!
Halloween brings out another side of creative makeup. It is the time of year when people experiment with dramatic colors, designs, and ideas that go beyond the everyday. Some use makeup to create realistic special effects, while others go for fun, colorful looks that show imagination and personality. The best part is that there are no rules. Everyone can transform into something new for a night and have fun creating it.

Expression in Dance
In dance, makeup often becomes part of the storytelling. A dancer’s look helps set the mood and adds to the emotion of the performance. Bright colors and bold designs can show energy and excitement, while softer tones can express calm or grace. Just like movement, makeup helps communicate feelings without words. Together, they create a complete picture of self-expression that connects the performer and the audience.

Throwback Makeup!
We’ve come a long way in the world of makeup. Back in 2014–2016, bold looks like cat eyes, dip brows, and cut creases dominated the scene. While today’s trends lean toward softer, more natural glam, that era encouraged people to step out of their comfort zones and experiment with creativity. For others, it was a reminder that sometimes, less really is more.

“When recreating a characters makeup, I start by studying screenshots to catch the colors and shapes. I break the look into steps like base, eyes, and lips. My tip is to capture the essence of the character, not every detail, and always test bold colors on your skin first.”

“ I love adding my own twist to any look. Sometimes I put a little red under my eyes or sprinkle in some glitter to make it pop. My tip is to start with the original design, then add one small detail that feels like you, it makes the look uniquely yours.”
