MEET JERRY!
MEET JERRY!
Meet Jerry, a senior at Northview High School taking currently in AP Studio Art. He’s an avid artist, and I, Sophie, decided to interview him to learn more about his passion!
We were tasked to create webpages revolving around art. Given our great amount of creative freedom, I thought, what better way to interview my favorite art friend?!

-
J: J: Yes, I am! I’m currently in College Board’s AP 2-D Art and Design class with Ms. Clawson.
-
J: I love every part of the class, but if I had to pick, it would be the class environment. I really admire everyone in the class and their work ethic. Each person gives feedback and helps each other to improve. We all help one another to produce our best work possible!
-
J: A lot of the time, we are just trying out different materials and designs to find out what works and what doesn’t. The creative process is a lot of experimentation Lots of experimentation and just seeing what works and what doesn’t
-
J: I’ve taken four other art classes: ceramics, drawing and painting, and photo

-
If I had to choose, probably acrylic! I’ve been working with it recently, and really like how it turns out.
-
J: I would say definitely the ceramic fish bowl I made this year in AP 2-D Art and Design. I really liked using the clay and different materials I used to work with in my Ceramic class to create a unique product! I think the concept was unique, and I just had a fun time making it.
-
J: My favorite thing about making art is really just how free it is. Being a good artist is all about how well you can use your creativity and play to your strengths.
There really is no judgement when it comes to art; you can be as structured or as abstract as you want when it comes to what you create. It’s your art, so there’s no rules or restrictions on what you can or can’t make. Ms. Clawson is also super great about creating a welcoming environment to express your freedom!

-
J: I really started to get into art around freshman year, when I took my first art class! Then, we were still sort of in COVID times, so it was a new hobby I picked up.
-
J: How all these new ideas just suddenly flow into your head. Sometimes, its hard to find inspiration to get started on a new piece, but usually there’s a moment when everything just clicks.
-
J: I hope to become an interior designer after I graduate college, and continue making all different kinds of art!
